Software for Canadian Insurance CompanyClientA big Canadian Insurance Company located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada providing Insurance services (other than life) to all provinces and territories of Canada, 44 U.S. states plus the District of Columbia. SolutionThe Insurance Company contracted Web Space Station® to analyze the goals for the software system to be developed. The intent of these efforts was to identify ways to exchange information between local and head offices, to create a scheme that would apply to the specific industry of insurance and would make the circulation of documents and communication faster. One of the system's purposes was also to allow insurance managers to work together and edit quote applications. As a result of a thorough analysis, the insurance system was configured. The software was composed of Web and stand-alone DOS applications. The purpose of the system was to allow the insurance agents to submit or modify and re-submit Application forms, Statement of Values forms, and Payee forms. Also the system allowed Insurance agents to post a Quote back to the agents. Web application represents an interface for insurance agents to collect data and to generate MS Word and Excel documents for latest printing. To facilitate the communication between managers, the analysts recognized the need for a chat feature that enables the review of stored messages with all submitted information. Roll-Back feature allowed to trace all the modifications done to applications, insurers applications and addressees of compensation insurance. This feature also enabled work with previous versions of applications (edit, print, generate endorsement). Intetics' staff has been involved in all phases of design, development and implementation of a testing and process strategy. The developed software works in the following way:
The application was developed in ASP (VB Script and JavaScript) using Microsoft SQL Server database and SQL Server Data Transformation service to import data from the existing FoxPro database that is being used by external applications. Microsoft Office objects were used to generate Word and Excel documents. |
